SPAR Österreich-Gruppe Increases Employee Efficiency with Background Single Sign-On, Ensures Onboarding of New Staff within Minutes

SPAR Österreich‑Gruppe, a major privately owned Austrian retail group with tens of thousands of employees across multiple countries, faced fragmented identity and access management: multiple directories and tools, manual provisioning, slow onboarding, and limited visibility to revoke or audit access as employees changed roles or left. The organization needed a single source of truth for identities, automated lifecycle management, and consistent authentication to protect data and meet compliance requirements.

SPAR implemented Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite Plus (including Oracle Access Manager, Identity Manager, Unified Directory and Directory Integration Platform) with Oracle Consulting. The project created a unified identity repository—importing over 4,700 legacy identities—enabled background single sign‑on across 60+ applications, automated policy‑based provisioning to replace paper onboarding, and sped new-employee access to minutes. The rollout improved efficiency, simplified audits and access revocation, and is being expanded to cover tens of thousands more identities.
