SMSA Express Transportation Company Frees up Capital Invested in Inventory by 20%, Reduces Days Sales Outstanding, Shortens Period Close

SMSA Express is a leading Saudi Arabian express transportation and logistics provider with more than 20 years’ experience, a fleet of 1,500+ vehicles, 212 retail centers and 2,700 employees serving 325 cities. Facing double-digit revenue growth, the company needed faster revenue collection and shorter period closes, lower capital tied up in packing materials across multiple hubs, improved HR services and paperless processes, and better customer and procurement visibility to win new business and reactivate customers.

SMSA implemented Oracle E-Business Suite (Financials, Inventory Management), Siebel Sales, Oracle BI and analytics, with HCL Technologies as implementation partner. As a result, packing-material stock and related capital were cut 20%, days sales outstanding fell by three days, period-close times shortened by an average of five days, employee self-service saved about two hours per person per month, paper use fell 15%, and consolidated customer and financial data improved collections, procurement savings and sales effectiveness.
