A Oracle Case Study
Slovak Telekom, the largest multimedia operator in Slovakia and part of Deutsche Telekom Group, faced a tangled IT landscape after merging with T‑Mobile Slovensko: two separate data warehouses on different platforms and architectures, manual spreadsheet-driven reporting, and the need for a 360-degree customer view with timely data to support marketing, sales, product development, and network decisions—all while cutting management and maintenance costs.
Working with Oracle Consulting, Slovak Telekom consolidated the two environments into a single Oracle Database–based data warehouse fed by Siebel CRM, migrating 4,300 tables/views, creating 1,000 objects, modifying over 5,000 jobs and resolving 100+ change requests before going live in September 2013. The new platform reduced infrastructure complexity and total cost of ownership despite data growth (24 TB to 48 TB), automated integrated reporting from 88 source systems, improved ETL performance and timeliness, enabled user self-service reporting, and boosted availability and manageability with Oracle RAC and partitioning.
