Sentinel supports electronic monitoring with Oracle Cloud for Government

Sentinel, a provider of electronic monitoring services for government and community corrections agencies, needed to rapidly expand its IT capacity as demand surged during the pandemic. Its on-premises data center was approaching hardware limits, while strict security and compliance requirements for state and local government customers made the move to cloud more complex. Oracle Cloud for Government, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Exadata Database Service, was selected to support Sentinel’s offender management platform and IoT monitoring operations.

Oracle implemented a secure, highly available cloud architecture that let Sentinel scale CPU capacity on demand, simplify database maintenance, and avoid costly hardware refreshes. Sentinel migrated its full IT environment in four months and now runs customer-facing systems, APIs, and databases on Oracle, improving portal response times by two to three seconds and reducing hardware, maintenance, and data-processing costs. The new setup also provided disaster recovery and saved Sentinel 2X on hardware costs.
