A Oracle Case Study
Seneca College, a large Toronto-based applied‑learning institution serving 26,500 full‑time and 70,000 part‑time students, needed to modernize identity management for more than 360,000 user identities. Facing a growing remote population, privacy and FIPPA compliance requirements, and an end‑of‑life legacy system while rolling out PeopleSoft on Oracle Exadata, the college sought a scalable way to streamline access control, automate provisioning/deprovisioning, and reduce IT complexity.
Seneca implemented Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite with partner ICSynergy to deliver a single identity and one‑password experience integrated with PeopleSoft and Exadata. Deployed in March 2014 and augmented with Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall, the solution provides secure, role‑based access, simplifies IT management, supports compliance, and creates a unified identity foundation for future initiatives such as mobile and social services.
