A Oracle Case Study
SCSK Corporation, a Tokyo-based IT services firm formed by the 2011 merger of Sumisho Computer Systems and CSK, needed to consolidate three in-house systems (ERP, expense, and payroll) onto a flexible, scalable enterprise database to support rapid post-merger growth. The company faced the challenge of supporting a threefold increase in users (from 3,500 to 10,000) while maintaining smooth operations for sales, product management and global IT service delivery.
SCSK upgraded its legacy MySQL to MySQL Enterprise Edition, using MySQL Enterprise Monitor and Query Analyzer to tune performance and ensure availability. The new platform supported over 100 concurrent queries, processed up to 300 GB of user data and handled as many as 600,000 transactions per day during peak periods, enabling the threefold user growth at lower cost, improving process efficiency, increasing developer productivity with standard SQL guidelines, and maintaining strong uptime for core business processes.
