Santos Ltd., one of Australia’s leading oil-and-gas producers with major LNG and exploration interests across Asia, needed a high-performance, highly available and scalable data platform to support 24/7 global operations. The company faced growing volumes of spatial, engineering and financial data, complex production-allocation and joint-venture reporting requirements, and strict regulatory deadlines—all while needing to reduce IT costs and improve analytics and operational efficiency.

Santos deployed an integrated Oracle engineered stack (Exadata, Exalytics, E‑Business Suite on SPARC/Solaris), going live in six months, to consolidate systems and enable real-time analytics. The implementation cut production-allocation processing from 120 to 10 hours (12x faster), achieved 52x spatial data compression, sped key queries 7x, reduced data-center footprint and costs, improved reporting and compliance, and simplified management while lowering implementation risk.
