San Francisco selects Oracle for better security, user experience

The City and County of San Francisco’s Department of Technology needed a more secure, user-friendly identity and access management platform to protect sensitive data across 50 departments and expand access beyond core financial and HR applications. Before using Oracle Identity and Access Management, the city struggled with limited MFA options, time-consuming access management, and concerns about exposing applications for remote access.

Oracle implemented Oracle Identity and Access Management in the cloud, creating a single sign-on MyApps dashboard for employees, retirees, suppliers, and future citizens. The result was faster application integration—cutting deployment time from about a month to a couple of days—plus stronger security with MFA across the dashboard, adaptive authentication, and a highly available platform that was reportedly up to 6X less expensive than competing solutions, while also reducing service tickets and improving user experience.
