Saigon Commercial Bank Improves Service Quality with Oracle Engineered Systems

Saigon Commercial Bank (SCB), a top-five joint‑stock bank in Vietnam with 230 branches, faced chronic performance and availability problems with its core banking system and data warehouse. Daily end‑of‑day batches were slow, reporting was limited to off‑hours, and lengthy full backups threatened SLA compliance and state‑bank availability requirements—all while legacy IBM servers and HP storage increased complexity and cost.

SCB migrated to Oracle Exadata and Oracle Database 12c, deployed Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance, StorageTek SL150, and used Oracle GoldenGate for cross‑platform migration, completing the project in two months. The result: end‑of‑day processing time fell from 5 hours to 1.5 hours (70% faster), reports run about 10x faster, backups became real‑time with minimal data‑loss exposure, online transaction performance and customer service improved, and IT costs, floor space, and management complexity were significantly reduced.
