Case Study: Rumo achieves 100% cloud-based railroad operations with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the Rumo Case Study

Rumo runs Brazilian railroad operations on Oracle Cloud

Rumo is one of Latin America’s largest railway operators, running nearly 14,000 km of track and transporting about 26% of Brazil’s exported grains and roughly 30% of the world’s sugar. The company relied on two data centers with its critical rail-operation control center centralized in Curitiba, leaving no backup in case of disaster, and needed a migration with zero downtime and a very tight timeline.

Rumo chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure because it supported Rumo’s VMware framework, preserved IP and routing, and partnered on a fast, low-risk migration. In three months Rumo moved its entire data-center operations— including train-control systems that manage ~400 trains simultaneously—onto OCI, integrating management, billing, HR and operational systems, improving resilience and delivering ongoing financial and operational benefits with continued Oracle support.
