The Royal Air Force Club is a private members’ club in London serving retired and serving RAF officers, with 16,000 members, 92 bedrooms and multiple event spaces. Facing growing mobile traffic and a need to modernize eCommerce and member communications—particularly to attract younger members and fill last-minute vacancies—the Club sought a simpler, mobile-first way for members to check availability, book rooms and receive timely offers.
Working with Oracle (using OPERA Property Cloud Service) and partner iRiS, the Club launched a branded mobile app in April 2014 that links seamlessly to its new website and membership systems. The app enables bookings, shop purchases and a members’ area, and uses push notifications to alert consenting members about offers and last‑minute room availability—improving direct communication, increasing bookings and revenue while preserving the Club’s traditional brand experience.
