A Oracle Case Study
Ricoh, a global technology company specializing in office imaging and IT services with operations in over 200 countries, faced the challenge of collecting, storing, and analyzing usage and service data from millions of multifunction printers across 100 countries. The company needed a common infrastructure-as-a-service platform to integrate sales and service systems, enable rapid analysis, and move from a reactive fix-and-repair model to a proactive, customer-focused service approach.
Ricoh implemented an Oracle-based IaaS platform using SPARC T5-2 servers, Oracle Solaris, Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance and Oracle Database with Advanced Compression and Partitioning. The solution went live in about 18 months and delivered faster data sharing and analysis, over 70% data compression and more than 90% reduction in table sizes through partitioning, up to 3x improved data utilization, fewer onsite engineer visits through proactive maintenance and replenishment, lower storage costs, higher customer satisfaction, and increased upsell opportunities.
