Case Study: Qatar Olympic Committee achieves 66% lower database TCO and enhanced event security with Oracle

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the Qatar Olympic Committee Case Study

Qatar Olympic Committee Gains Extra Layers of Security for Sporting Events While Reducing Total Database Ownership Cost by 66%

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), the Doha-based organization that manages Qatar’s national and international sporting participation, needed to simplify day-to-day database administration, protect sensitive athlete, staff and event data, strengthen spectator and player security at high-profile events, improve monitoring to prevent issues, and reduce total cost of ownership so more budget could be directed to sports programs.

QOC consolidated multiple Oracle Databases onto an Exadata platform with partner Mannai, cutting processors from 24 to 8 and reducing database TCO by 66%. They deployed Oracle Access Manager for role-based access, Oracle Advanced Security and Data Masking for encryption and on‑the‑fly masking, Audit Vault and Database Firewall for automated monitoring and compliance, and lifecycle/diagnostics/tuning packs plus Oracle performance services to automate provisioning, patching and performance tuning—resulting in stronger event and data security, fewer manual DBA tasks, faster issue resolution, and budget freed for core sports initiatives.
