Portic Barcelona S.A. is a small service provider that runs the electronic-commerce platform for the Port of Barcelona’s logistics community, connecting dock workers, forwarders, shippers and customs brokers. Facing rapid growth (360+ customers) it needed a fast, low‑risk, hardware‑independent platform to simplify and automate document exchange, cut transaction time and centralize support so the business could focus on core services.

Portic migrated to an integrated Oracle stack—Oracle SuperCluster with Solaris 11, Oracle VM for SPARC and WebLogic—with Oracle Advanced Customer Support handling the migration. The new platform delivered a 32x performance improvement (up to 26,000 requests/hour and 500 messages/min), 16:1 server consolidation, 50x faster backups, 12x faster deployments and a 5x better price/performance ratio, while reducing IT complexity, improving availability and completing the migration in a single weekend.
