Preview of the Polpharma Case Study

Polpharma Consolidates Financial Statements for 20 Subsidiaries in Five Days, Reduces Financial Management Costs by More Than 50%

Polpharma S.A., one of the world’s top-20 generic drug manufacturers with operations across Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, rapidly expanded through M&A to 20 subsidiaries. That growth exposed weaknesses in spreadsheet-based planning and fragmented accounting—different charts of accounts, currencies, local GAAPs and fiscal rules—making consolidation slow, costly and risky for regulatory compliance. The company needed standardized workflows and a scalable, enterprise-grade financial-management platform to close reliably and quickly.

Polpharma deployed Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning, integrated with its ERP and Oracle Business Intelligence. The solution standardized multi-GAAP consolidation and reporting, enabled monthly financial close for 20 subsidiaries in five business days with the same finance team, and cut financial-management costs by about 50% by eliminating local external teams. It also empowered 220 product managers to update forecasts concurrently, improved R&D and sales forecasting, and delivered interactive dashboards and KPIs to support faster, more informed executive decisions.
