Phiten boosts database performance 40X with Oracle

Phiten, a health-focused Japanese manufacturer with more than 4 million registered users and over 10,000 retail and online sales locations, faced rapidly growing data from inventory, sales and customer systems that its on‑premises databases could no longer process efficiently. The company needed faster, more scalable performance for its sales management system to support expansion and reduce operational bottlenecks.

Phiten migrated its sales management databases to Oracle Database Cloud Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, leveraging a new Osaka region and the ability to scale IOPS with storage. The move delivered a 40× performance boost: order data imports fell from 10 minutes to 15 seconds, electronic transfer-slip processing from 2 hours to 10 minutes, and after‑hours processing and overtime were largely eliminated. Real‑time points updates replaced two‑week delays and reports now run daily/weekly instead of monthly, enabling faster operations and better user experience.
