Peru’s Largest Retail Pharmacy Chain Aims to Get Even Larger

InkaFarma, Peru’s largest retail pharmacy chain, set out to nearly double its store footprint across a country of rugged mountains, forests and remote communities. To expand beyond Lima while meeting strict pharmaceutical regulations (segregation, expiration and batch control), the company needed a modern automated distribution center and a warehouse management system capable of high-volume, accurate order fulfillment.

InkaFarma built a new automated D.C. and implemented Oracle Warehouse Management Cloud (formerly LogFire), integrated with the facility’s warehouse control systems and mobile tablets. The solution improved traceability and returns handling, cut staffing from 500 to 300 while boosting shipping volumes by about 40%, and enabled rapid store expansion toward the company’s 1,000-store goal.
