PAYBACK achieves maximum data security and efficiency with Oracle

PAYBACK GmbH, a leading consumer loyalty program in Germany with operations in Poland, India, Mexico, Italy and Austria, manages large volumes of offline and online customer data and depends on strong customer trust. As the company expanded, it needed to relocate its IT infrastructure—two Oracle Exadata half racks—from Frankfurt to new datacenters in Munich and Nuremberg while ensuring continuous GDPR-compliant data security, preventing any data loss or exposure, avoiding business disruption, and building internal IT expertise instead of relying on external operators.

Using Oracle Exadata, Oracle Advanced Customer Services and Oracle Relocation Service, PAYBACK securely erased redundant data, relocated and recommissioned the systems in 14 days, and completed a full knowledge transfer so its DBAs now administer the machines. The move preserved GDPR compliance and caused no operational downtime, delivered up to 30% efficiency gains in administration, maintenance and support, shortened reboot and patch windows (reboots in minutes, patching in 8 hours versus ~35 hours previously), and reduced VM provisioning from several weeks to a single day.
