A Oracle Case Study
Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, Austria’s largest higher-education institution with more than 18,000 students and about 2,900 staff, was facing steadily increasing demand on its IT infrastructure—particularly for the CAMPUSonline system—requiring higher compute performance, uninterrupted service during peak enrollment periods, stable operations without adding administrative overhead, and controlled total cost of ownership and energy use.
By upgrading to Oracle Exadata Database Machine X6-2 with support from DBConcepts and Oracle Advanced Customer Support, the university doubled server performance, guaranteed application stability during peak loads, and cut maintenance and update windows dramatically (restores in 5–10 minutes; updates in 20–40 minutes). The deployment preserved TCO, improved energy efficiency and sustainability, supported ISO 27001 goals, and prepared the environment for future cloud migration.
