Oman makes history by conducting digital elections using OCI Dedicated Region

ITHCA Group, Oman’s government-backed ICT organization, faced the challenge of building a secure, cloud-first digital infrastructure that could support more than 120 government and semi-government entities while meeting strict sovereignty, residency, and security requirements. Working with Oracle, it needed a solution that kept all operations and data inside government data centers and could support sensitive workloads such as national elections.

Oracle, together with ITHCA Group, implemented OCI Dedicated Region and OCI services, including OCI Kubernetes Engine and OCI AI infrastructure, to run the election platform and other government workloads. The result was Oman’s first fully digital elections, deployed in just three months and used by 288,469 voters in 2022 and more than 750,000 citizens in 2023, while reducing election staffing needs and improving transparency, convenience, and resilience.
