NYU Grossman School of Medicine works to predict sudden death by epilepsy

NYU Grossman School of Medicine needed more computing power for machine learning research on epilepsy and sudden death, but its on-premises GPU servers were shared across researchers and often required long waits and admin access delays. The team turned to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle for Research to support a hybrid environment for faster, more flexible deep learning work.

Using Oracle, NYU Grossman School of Medicine gained on-demand GPU access and a customizable cloud sandbox that made it easier to run parallel projects and collaborate with internal and external partners. The Oracle for Research Project Award also provided cloud credits, resources, and consulting support. As a result, the researchers expanded their SUDEP studies and used machine learning to analyze EEG and ECG data from eight epilepsy centers, identifying biomarkers that could help predict risk.
