NRI modernizes critical back-office solutions for brokerage firms with OCI

Nomura Research Institute (NRI) needed to modernize its mission-critical back-office platform, THE STAR, to support growth while keeping full control over data, financial governance, and regulatory compliance. Using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Dedicated Region, NRI set out to improve scalability, availability, and operating efficiency for brokerage firms and banks in Japan.

Oracle implemented OCI Dedicated Region along with Oracle Kubernetes Engine and Exadata Database Service to move THE STAR to a distributed cloud environment across NRI’s Tokyo and Osaka data centers. The result was better resource management and stronger performance, with NRI reporting improvements in about 60% of service processes, while also maintaining high availability and financial governance.
