Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District Ensures Availability for Critical Patient Data

Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District (PPSHP) is a public healthcare provider in Oulu, Finland, serving about 390,000 residents across three hospitals and 29 municipalities. Facing an evolving hardware and software environment, the district needed to ensure continuous high availability and rapid recovery of its critical patient-data system, avoid unforeseen downtime, provide expert support throughout the system lifecycle, and simplify IT operations by using a single, experienced service provider.

PPSHP engaged Oracle Advanced Customer Support and Oracle Business Critical Assistance to deliver 24/7 Oracle expertise, a designated service manager and support team, and expanded monitoring and administration capabilities. The partnership extended support hours from 8–17 to full-time coverage, introduced proactive performance and configuration reviews, improved testing and reporting practices, reduced IT staff workload by shifting operational support to Oracle, and ensured continuous availability and faster recovery of patient data—saving time and costs while increasing system reliability.
