Nomura Research Institute (NRI), Japan’s largest consulting and IT solutions firm, built the BESTWAY financial cloud to provide OTC investment-trust sales services to 109 financial institutions. NRI needed to consolidate 20 legacy database servers into a single platform to speed daily and monthly batch processing, deliver investor reports faster, increase storage capacity for future growth, ensure high availability for time‑critical transactions, and lower operating costs.

NRI implemented four Oracle Exadata Database Machines, chosen after a proof‑of‑concept for their end‑to‑end performance and support. The migration shortened daily batches by 2 hours and monthly batches by 18 hours, enabled up to 136x faster customer information delivery, boosted storage capacity 8x with Hybrid Columnar Compression and Smart Flash Cache, cut data‑center operating costs, and improved reliability through Oracle Auto Service Request and Premier Support—positioning NRI to support transaction growth for the next decade.
