NMB Bank, one of Tanzania’s largest banks with over 3 million customers, 224 branches, thousands of agents and 800+ ATMs, set out to accelerate a long‑planned digital transformation to expand internet and mobile banking and support efficient cross‑border payments. The bank needed a flexible, intuitive, and secure digital platform to meet corporate and retail customer expectations and stay competitive against international banks and fintechs.
Building on an existing Oracle FLEXCUBE core, NMB implemented Oracle Banking Digital Experience to migrate corporate customers, enable host‑to‑host ERP integrations, and deliver consolidated multi‑account visibility, easier FX processing and regulatory compliance, and direct mobile‑wallet payments for NGOs. The solution’s built‑in mobile app and soft‑token improved security and lowered costs, boosted operational efficiency and support turnaround, and positions NMB to roll the platform out to retail customers while competing more effectively for corporate business.
