Nippon Paint Holdings Supports Global Expansion with Oracle Engineered Systems

Nippon Paint Holdings, Japan’s oldest and Asia’s largest paint manufacturer with a global footprint, needed to standardize and consolidate its IT across domestic and overseas group companies to support rapid expansion. The company’s objectives included improving performance and reliability for SAP and Java-based enterprise applications, minimizing downtime for database backups across time zones, and strengthening governance and reporting for group management.

Nippon Paint implemented Oracle SuperCluster M7 and the Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance with support from Oracle and partner SCSK, consolidating multiple servers and storage onto a single engineered platform. The move accelerated data loading 5x (from 2 GB/s to 10 GB/s), enabled incremental‑forever backups to minimize service interruption, shortened SAP database migration to about 1.5 months, reduced maintenance and costs, improved overnight batch processing and recovery speed, and provided scalable, virtualized infrastructure to support continued global growth.
