Nidec Motor, a global motor manufacturer with operations across North America, faced a tight 16‑week deadline after a major acquisition left several business entities running on‑premises Oracle E‑Business Suite. Working with Infosys, Nidec urgently evaluated cloud migration options to meet its data‑center move and chose a solution that preserved performance, availability, and security requirements.

Nidec migrated its Oracle and non‑Oracle workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), leveraging Oracle RAC, Oracle Linux and OCI virtualization. The cutover went live in October 2017 and delivered immediate benefits: provisioning time fell 70% using Oracle Linux images on OCI; Oracle Database cores were reduced from 40 per node to 12–24 on Exadata; long‑running batch jobs improved >15%; CPU response time improved ~20%, CPU utilization improved ~30%; and backup and storage costs and times were reduced.
