National Oilwell Varco Transforms Thirty Disparate ERP Systems into One Global Single Instance in the Cloud

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) is a Houston-based, acquisition-led supplier of tools and services to the drilling and production industry. Its Rig division faced a complex IT challenge: more than 30 disparate, tier-two ERP systems across global operations needed consolidation into a single, scalable system that could operate 24/7, standardize processes from acquired businesses, provide executives with timely, accurate data, and integrate with in‑house and third‑party applications.

Working with Oracle Managed Cloud Services, NOV consolidated into a single global Oracle E-Business Suite instance in the cloud, replacing roughly 50 unsupported legacy systems. The solution delivered scalable, always-available ERP; integrated BI for a 360-degree financial view; faster, more accurate decision-making; reduced rollout and maintenance risk; improved global performance and security; and SOC1/SOC2-compliant controls—freeing NOV IT to focus on strategic business initiatives.
