Preview of the Migros Bank Case Study

Migros Bank AG Makes Systems More Available and Improves Operational Insight and Analytics with a Scalable, Integrated Data Warehouse

Migros Bank AG is a leading Swiss retail bank with more than 800,000 customers, 62 branches, and a large online banking operation. Facing rapid growth and diversification, the bank needed a scalable, reliable IT infrastructure to integrate new applications, reduce and standardize data load times, improve query accuracy and speed, enable simultaneous data processing for higher availability, cut maintenance costs, and strengthen analytics for compliance and reporting.

Migros Bank deployed a unified, scalable data-warehouse platform using two Oracle Exadata half-racks and Oracle Business Intelligence Suite (OBIEE). The new solution cut daily batch-load time from an average of 14 hours to under 5 hours, reduced data-warehouse operating and optimization costs by nearly 50%, improved query response times by 50%, increased throughput from 10 GB to 40 GB, and delivered richer analytics and reporting to support risk, product, and compliance management.
