Medgaz Doubles Enterprise Application Adoption and Boosts Productivity and Operational Efficiency

Medgaz is a consortium formed in 2001 to design, build, and operate a 120‑mile underwater natural gas pipeline between Algeria and Spain (up to 1.3 miles deep) that delivers 8 billion cubic meters of gas per year. In 2013 the company sought to revamp its ERP to eliminate inconsistent, Excel‑based reporting and improve data consistency, decision‑making, document management and maintenance scheduling, because existing ERP usage across the organization was low.

Oracle Consulting upgraded Medgaz to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1 on Sun Solaris, integrated finance, budgeting, asset management, procurement, inventory and maintenance processes, and implemented a license model to drive internal adoption. The deployment doubled the number of ERP users, gave authorized staff fast access to accurate financial, maintenance and inventory information, automated pipeline maintenance scheduling, streamlined workflows, and continues to be supported with same‑day assistance.
