McGraw Hill launches multicloud data center exit with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

McGraw Hill, a leading global education company, wanted to continue its data center exit but was still burdened by costly hardware, slow infrastructure provisioning, and workloads that were difficult to scale efficiently. Much of its digital platform ran across AWS and Azure, but critical Oracle databases, Oracle E-Business Suite applications, an enterprise data warehouse, and VMware-based third-party apps still remained in its data centers, limiting flexibility and raising costs. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) became the target platform for these workloads.

Oracle helped McGraw Hill migrate key back-office systems to OCI using Oracle Exadata Database Service, Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, and support from Oracle Cloud Lift Services. The move improved agility and made provisioning and scaling easier without downtime, while also lowering total cost by allowing compute to scale with demand instead of being sized for peak usage. McGraw Hill also used Oracle Support Rewards and OCI’s pricing advantages to increase savings, and is planning additional migrations to Oracle cloud.
