Preview of the Grupo Mart Minas Case Study

Mart Minas gains 40% in performance with maximum availability architecture

Grupo Mart Minas, the largest retailer and wholesaler of perishables and non-perishables in Minas Gerais, Brazil, needed a more elastic cloud database platform to support business growth, reduce infrastructure management costs, and improve security and availability. The company had been running ERP and other business workloads on Oracle Exadata and wanted to overcome scaling limits while moving toward the cloud with minimal disruption.

Oracle implemented Oracle Exadata Database Service on Oracle Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M, along with Oracle Active Data Guard and Oracle Real Application Clusters, to consolidate six databases and support maximum availability for stores and corporate systems. The migration was completed in 60 days, roughly half the planned time, with about US$80,000 saved versus budget, and the company reported a 40% performance improvement plus faster provisioning, reduced total cost of ownership, and more reliable operations across 52 stores.
