Case Study: Sözcü achieves regional traffic routing, DDoS protection, and improved reliability with Oracle (Dyn Traffic Director)

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the Sözcü Case Study

Managing Regional Traffic & Protecting Against DDoS Attacks

Sözcü, an Istanbul-based digital newspaper ranked #3 in Turkey by comScore, was seeing rapid traffic growth accompanied by frequent DDoS attacks. Their prior mitigation routed traffic through Amsterdam, which degraded access for the vast majority of readers in Turkey, so Sözcü sought a way to protect against DNS-based attacks while directing visitors to regionally optimal servers.

Using Dyn Traffic Director for regional traffic management and DDoS mitigation, Sözcü now routes Turkish, European, and U.S. visitors to local endpoints and can quickly fail over if a server is attacked. The result is improved reliability, availability, faster response times and a better visitor experience, and Sözcü plans to deploy a second Traffic Director to build its own CDN, cut CDN costs and scale toward becoming Turkey’s top digital newspaper.
