A Oracle Case Study
MagtiCom LTD is Georgia’s leading telecommunications provider, serving more than 2 million subscribers with mobile, fixed, internet and TV “quadruple play” services. Facing rapid service expansion and growing load from new offerings like satellite broadcasting, the company needed to minimize online outages that drove overwhelming call volumes to customer care, improve database performance and scalability, and reduce licensing and administration costs by consolidating multiple billing, roaming, prepaid/postpaid and customer-care databases.
Working with Oracle Consulting and partner UGT, MagtiCom deployed Oracle Exadata Database Machine and consolidated its core databases onto a single engineered platform. The move cut overall database ownership cost by 40%, delivered failover in seconds, eliminated frequent restarts, and enabled a smooth two-month migration. Monthly billing time dropped 4x (from 6 hours to 1.5 hours), online service disruptions were minimized so customers could continue account tasks during incidents, and the platform provided the performance and scalability needed to support future growth.
