Los Rios Community College District Saves US$40,000 Annually by Issuing Pay Stubs Electronically Gains Advantages of Self-Service for Students and Staff

Los Rios Community College District, the second-largest community college district in California serving about 77,000 students across four colleges, needed to streamline academic and administrative processes, manage continued growth, and deliver web-enabled self-service to meet rising student and staff demand and California’s Student Success and Support Program requirements.

By integrating Oracle PeopleSoft across student, HR, and financial systems, Los Rios launched a districtwide Success landing page, a high-performance enrollment system (1,200–1,500 requests/sec), an eight-module online orientation (26,000 completions in 2014 vs 2,000 in spring 2013), and an electronic education planner (~60,000 plans in 2014). The project delivered secure self-service for students and staff, enabled online W-2s and electronic pay stubs (saving about US$40,000 annually and reducing support time), standardized purchasing, PCI-compliant payments, easier transcript exchanges, and a scalable, mobile-ready foundation for ongoing improvements.
