Lloyd’s Register Delivers Live Ship-Survey and Classification Data Through Mobile Application It Developed in Two Months

Lloyd’s Register (LR) is a 250‑year‑old global engineering and technical services organization (about 9,000 employees) that provides classification, inspection, and consultancy for the maritime industry. LR needed a fast, low‑cost mobile version of its Class Direct web service so ship owners, managers and surveyors could access up‑to‑date inspection and classification data in the field without upgrading its legacy back‑end.

Using Oracle ADF Mobile and Oracle WebLogic, LR’s in‑house team built a modern mobile front end in two months with agile iterations and Oracle support, delivering native iOS and Android access for up to 16,000 users. The app pulls live survey and classification data from LR’s database, required no back‑end changes or user training, accelerated service uptake, reduced development cost and time, and kept LR competitive in a mobile‑first market.
