Lion is one of Oceania’s largest adult beverage companies, stewarding many of Australia’s and New Zealand’s iconic beer and beverage brands with more than 5,000 employees. Facing rapidly changing consumer preferences, Lion launched a major finance transformation to simplify operations (reducing legal entities from 300 to 50 and adopting a single chart of accounts) and replace an aging, highly customized Oracle Hyperion system—while ensuring perfect synchronization with its SAP on‑premises ERP and executing a virtual, big‑bang rollout during the pandemic.

Lion implemented Oracle Cloud EPM (with Oracle Enterprise Data Management and SAP integration via Oracle’s universal adapters) in August 2020, working with DXC and Oracle Development. The move eliminated server and customization costs, cut system calculation time by 93%, maintained fast month‑end closes (about a day and a half), and delivered trusted, unified financial data—freeing finance staff to focus on consumer insights and continuous process improvement.
