A Oracle Case Study
Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the nation’s second-largest district serving more than 600,000 students across 1,000+ schools, faced a major communications challenge: families speak 100+ languages, district boundaries span 700+ square miles, and over 100,000 households lack internet access and rely on mobile phones. With student data scattered across nonconnected, non‑mobile systems, LAUSD needed a single, mobile-first, multilingual channel to deliver grades, attendance, lunch balances, emergency alerts, assignments and event information to parents and guardians.
Partnering with Fishbowl Solutions and Oracle, LAUSD deployed a hybrid mobile app and website built on Oracle Mobile Cloud, Oracle WebCenter Content and Oracle Identity Cloud to consolidate all student information into one multilingual access point. Designed with parent workshops, the solution improved searchability and communications, cut office visits, calls, emails and paper flow, and increased transparency and parent participation in students’ academic and extracurricular activities.
