A Oracle Case Study
Lalux, a Luxembourg-based insurance company, faced end-of-life hardware and the need to run 40+ Oracle databases while meeting strict cybersecurity and regulatory requirements (Solvency II, GDPR, cloud guidelines). Compliance and operational complexity were consuming budget and slowing innovation, and existing servers had low average compute utilization with no bursting capability for peak workloads.
Lalux deployed Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer—a private cloud appliance hosted in its data center and managed with Oracle Consulting—to modernize infrastructure, automate workloads, and simplify storage administration. The move delivered capacity for peaks over 6× higher than before, databases that are twice as fast, batch jobs up to 3× faster for some PL/SQL units, and sufficient storage for the next five years, plus built‑in database features (partitioning, advanced compression, Real Application Testing, Active Data Guard, management packs) at no extra cost.
