A Oracle Case Study
Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) is a government-backed financial institution that protects depositors and promotes financial stability in Korea. Facing the need to protect critical depositor data and maintain 24/7 operations, KDIC required an advanced disaster recovery (DR) solution that would replicate and back up core banking data without impacting the primary database, prevent data loss during outages or disasters, and accelerate monthly DR testing.
KDIC implemented Oracle Database 12c with Oracle Active Data Guard, Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture, Real Application Clusters, and diagnostic/tuning packs to build a resilient DR environment. The solution delivered zero data loss through remote replication and rapid failover, halved monthly DR test time (from 40 to 20 minutes), ensured continuous business operations with reduced downtime, lowered software maintenance costs by replacing third‑party components, automated data management for better performance and scalability, and improved IT productivity through automated diagnostics and tuning.
