Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) provides electric, gas, water, and wastewater services to nearly half a million customers in eastern Tennessee and needed an advanced distribution management system to better use network and AMI data across multiple utility types. KUB chose Oracle Utilities Network Management System (NMS) to replace its legacy outage management system and support its combined utility operations.

Oracle implemented Oracle Utilities Network Management System with outage and distribution management modules, plus integration with KUB’s web and mobile systems. The solution gave operators and field crews real-time, cross-commodity network visibility, improving situational awareness, safety, responsiveness, and flexibility; it has also helped KUB handle several heavy summer and winter storms without issues.
