Keio Department Store builds data lakehouse with Oracle for real-time insights

Keio Department Store, a major retail group in Japan, needed to replace its legacy on-premises mainframe systems with a data-driven platform that could collect customer contact data, support real-time analysis, and improve customer satisfaction across its stores and online channels. The company chose Oracle, using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Autonomous Database to modernize its enterprise system and build a strategic data lakehouse.

Oracle implemented Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse as the core enterprise warehouse and data lake, integrating BI tools and ERP data while also moving transactional workloads to Oracle Standard Database Service on OCI. The result was automated management, monitoring, tuning, and backups that cut costs by 30%, plus faster real-time access to data, instant POS updates, and high performance across more than 40 million records.
