Kaunet, the online sales arm of Japan’s Kokuyo Worldwide, sells more than 500,000 office and telework-related items and in 2018 expanded from B2B into consumer retail. During the COVID-19 surge in telework and hygiene product demand, Kaunet found it could not send personalized, timely emails and relied on IT for slow, manual customer-list extraction.
Kaunet implemented Oracle Responsys and Oracle Maxymiser to target customers with real‑time behavioral data and run A/B tests, linking website personalization to email campaigns. The move reduced reliance on IT, sped execution, and is expected to lift business from some customers by 15–20% and email open rates by 10–20 percentage points, using tactics like inactivity coupons, cart-abandonment follow-ups, and purchase-history driven offers.
