A Oracle Case Study
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) is Saudi Arabia’s national science agency and laboratories, reporting to the Prime Minister and supporting thousands of researchers across multiple institutes. KACST faced fragmented, heavily customized legacy systems that slowed project work, complicated procurement of sensitive scientific materials, made HR/finance compliance difficult, and could not scale to meet 20–30% annual growth or rising storage needs.
KACST implemented Oracle E‑Business Suite 12.1 on Oracle hardware (with Oracle Solaris, Identity Management, Self‑Service HR and Payroll) via Tata Consultancy Services, replacing bespoke systems with a standards-based integrated ERP. The change sped procurement from three weeks to three days, automated payroll for 3,700 staff, processed 30,000 annual leave requests with 70% approved within three days, supported 1,000+ concurrent R&D projects, centralized finance and security for accurate budgeting and regulatory compliance, and delivered the scalability and reliability to meet rapid growth.
