A Oracle Case Study
JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d., the largest public electric utility in Bosnia and Herzegovina serving about 750,000 customers, needed to sharpen its competitiveness after the country opened its electricity market. Its IT estate was fragmented—Oracle databases ran on multiple systems, virtualization solutions and vendors were inconsistent—and the company required consolidated infrastructure, expanded storage for meter‑data management, better performance for roughly 1,000 business users, and stronger security and disaster‑recovery capabilities.
Elektroprivreda deployed Oracle Database Appliance to consolidate 15 Oracle databases, added a second appliance running Oracle RAC for active‑active failover, and expanded storage with Oracle ZFS, totaling more than 40 TB of usable database capacity. The solution delivered up to 5x faster processing and reporting, 24/7 access for users, eliminated unscheduled downtime, simplified maintenance and licensing, enabled capacity‑on‑demand scaling, and was implemented within four months and on budget.
