A Oracle Case Study
Jet Infosystems, a Moscow-based systems integrator founded in 1991 with 1,400 employees and regional offices across Russia and neighboring countries, needed a way to let enterprise clients performance-test Oracle Database systems and convincingly demonstrate that Oracle Exadata delivers far superior OLTP and data-warehouse performance and cost savings—especially for data-heavy industries such as telecommunications, banking, insurance, retail, and utilities.
Using Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Exadata Storage Server Software and Oracle migration tools (RMAN copy, transportable tablespaces, Data Pump via DB link), Jet ran live demos and customer proof-of-concepts that produced dramatic results: SQL queries up to 800x faster versus commodity servers, 11x compression of telecom call-data records via Hybrid Columnar Compression, and throughput up to 1.6 TB/hour with RMAN. These tests enabled customers to migrate, test their own environments, and experience substantial runtime and cost improvements.
