Jefferson County Public Schools Improves Management of 66,000 Technology Assets Across 155 Schools

Jefferson County Public Schools, the largest K–12 district in Colorado with about 85,000 students across 155 schools, faced rising IT complexity and legacy asset-management limits. The district needed to replace IBM Maximo to better manage roughly 11,000 facility assets and 66,000 technology items, standardize purchasing and budgeting transparency, and give principals and staff real-time metrics to improve decision-making and meet K–12 requirements.

Jeffco implemented Oracle PeopleSoft 9.1 across finance, asset management, HR and self-service, consolidating operations across 200+ buildings. The move delivered a projected US$1.2 million savings over 10 years versus Maximo, cut open work orders from 12,000 to 2,500 while achieving 95% same-day responses, shifted 70–80% of tickets to self-service, tracked 66,000 tech assets, improved inventory accuracy, streamlined procurement (9,000 card transactions) and launched dashboards and public portals to increase transparency and support future initiatives like fleet management.
