IWM Cyber Security cuts IT support costs by 50% with OCI

IWM Cyber Security, a cybersecurity services provider focused on educational technology and government use cases, was facing rapidly rising cloud costs and inconsistent support as its Oracle APEX-based learning platform grew to more than 10,000 students on AWS. The company needed a better way to host and develop its applications while improving performance, reliability, and customer service, and it evaluated Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as an alternative.

Oracle helped IWM run a proof of concept on OCI using Oracle Cloud Free Tier, Oracle APEX, Oracle Autonomous Database, and later Oracle MySQL HeatWave. The migration was completed quickly with no disruption to users, and Oracle delivered major results: query times improved 2X to 3X, database timeouts were eliminated, onboarding dropped from days to hours, manual work fell by about 50%, and total license, computing, and support costs were cut by almost 50%.
