Institut Català d’Oncologia Creates Detailed Reports 4x Faster to Improve Cancer Treatment and Monitoring

Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO) is a public cancer-care organization in Catalonia with four regional centers that treat more than half of the region’s cancer patients and run prevention and research programs. ICO needed better visibility into performance and costs: it sought to consolidate data from all centers, identify benchmarks and best practices, and expand insight into productivity, resource deployment, and treatment effectiveness.

Working with Oracle, ICO implemented Oracle Business Intelligence and trained users across the organization. The solution consolidated data, produced reports four times faster than the legacy system, and gave administrators, managers, clinicians, and IT staff tailored analytics to track costs, outcomes, and trends. As a result ICO deployed resources more efficiently, standardized best practices across centers, improved monitoring of treatment and productivity, and achieved a cost-effective BI choice that was about 15% cheaper than the next option.
