Information Resources Increases Revenue by US$5 Million—Is Set to Save US$1 Million Annually with Simplified IT Architecture

Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) is a Chicago‑based provider of market, shopper and analytics services to retailers and consumer‑goods companies, serving more than 95% of the Fortune Global 500. Facing rapid data growth and rising demand for concurrent internal and external access, IRI needed a high‑performance, scalable, single‑vendor data platform that would reduce IT complexity, improve backup/recovery, and accelerate time to value for new analytics services.

IRI standardized on Oracle Exadata Database Machine with Oracle Advanced Analytics and Sun ZFS Backup Appliance, consolidating multiple databases and centralizing its data warehouse. The new environment enabled ad‑hoc analytics that added about US$5 million in annual revenue and is projected to save roughly US$1 million a year in IT costs, supported >50 internal and >1,000 external concurrent users without degradation, achieved up to 7–8x data compression, reduced query times from months to hours, and made regular high‑speed backups practical.
